New York Bureau of Municipal Research - (National) Institute of Public Administration

(Under development)
It started in 1904 and ended in approximately 2002
It had 4 names
  • Bureau of City Betterment (1904-1906) (part of the City Club)
  • Bureau of Municipal Research (1907-192x)
  • National Institute of Public Administration (192x-193x) (attached to Columbia University)
  • Institute of Public Administration (193x-circa 2002) (attached to NYU in its later years)
It ran a training school in public service. The last director of that school, William Mosher, became the first dean of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Service at Syracuse University.
